Bike and Scooter servicing

A big thank you to Bike it Ray who came in to school to service all the Year R bikes and scooters ready for September.

While he was here he serviced any bikes or scooters that had been ridden to school by the children.  Any advisory notes were shared via blue tags.

Bike in Ray supports our school and helps us drive forward ideas for sustainable travel and safety, to help not only the environment but also the health and wellbeing of all pupils.  Research has proved that children who walk, ride or scoot to school are able to concentrate and focus more in class.
An important piece of information he shared with is that bicycle helmets should be replaced every three years.

Whole School British Values Day

Today we had a great day taking part in a range of activities to learn more about British Values. We participated in some traditional English dancing to learn about how traditions are important and need to be respected.  'The Highway Rat' was used to discuss the rule of law and we used 'The Day the Crayon Quit' to think about democracy. Finally, we produced some artwork based on some books using inspirational quotes about individual liberty.

Ecobricks DT Day

Last Tuesday, all of the children took part in a DT Day.  We mixed up into our houses and learnt about plastic pollution.  We wanted to do something about this issue so we started to make ecobricks.  Ecobricks are best used in the local area so we decided to plan a structure that we will build in the grounds of Kings Copse.  It will be a legacy piece for today's children.  We are looking forward to choosing the winning design and collaborating to build it in the future.
If you would like to make some ecobricks at home, please either bring them to the school fayre or drop them into school.  If you would like any more information about how to make them, please come and ask.
