Day Two - Water Sports and Orienteering

This morning we woke up to bright blue skies ready for our second day in Swanage! We enjoyed sausage baps for breakfast before making our own lunches. Two groups then got into our wetsuits to head to coasteering. 

After we had walked down to Dancing Ledge, we had a go at our first activity! We all practised a shallow entry into the water before doing a rolly polly! Our first activity turned out to be our last as the weather changed unexpectedly. We explored a cave instead and waited for the storm to pass before making our way back.

We all also enjoyed orienteering today which we did around Swanage town. This also included a well-earned ice-cream and a trip to the gift shop!

The final group of coasteerers had a go at some beach water sports instead - they had great fun bodyboarding and playing water polo at Swanage beach! 

Our very busy day has ended with campfire songs and marshmallows. We're certain they will all sleep well tonight!

Day One - Crabbing and Team Building

We have arrived! We reached our campsite at lunchtime and were greeted by sunshine and our fantastic bell tent village. After lunch, the kids couldn't wait to get into their tents and get set up!

 We then enjoyed a short stroll down to the beach where we had a go at crabbing in the afternoon sunshine. Everyone caught something - from crabs to fish to prawns! We then made our way back to camp for some free time.

We all then enjoyed lasagne for dinner before taking part in some team building games which were great fun. Day two here we come...!

Wildern sustainable schools forum

Members of our school council and gardening club were invited to attend the first Wildern Sustainable Schools Forum on Thursday 14 July.

The Mayor of Eastleigh started the day by showing the alternative Eastleigh Mayoral chain, which is made from  recycled metals sourced from local manufacturers. 

There were a number of activities for the pupils to experience through the morning. We began with working with Southern Water.

With hard hats and hi-via jackets....

The outside with the Hampshire and I of W wild lands trust and bug hunting....

Then back inside for a chat with Kool school uniform and Fair Trade....

To finish the morning.....Bikeit! Ray!

In the afternoon the children watched a Go Green Assembly film....

We then met the Eco-school coordinator for England and celebrated Wildern's Green flag award.

And finally Kings Copse gardening club, led by Nikki Short, explained how they were set up and all the fantastic work they have done in and around school.

All the children had a great day. Thanks to Wildren for hosting, in particular Chloe and Maisie who were our chaperones for the day. Also thanks to Giles Gooding for organising the forum.

Fareham Model Railway

After a quick greet and safety talk, we wasted no time and got straight on board! 

We waited at the platform.

Then all the children waited for a ride and climbed on board with an adult.

There were some initial nerves from some children. But that is why we came, to give the children confidence in trying something new.

It worked, with all the children being keen to try out all of the different trains and chat to all the different drivers.

There are two tunnels, both full of screams!
