Monday fun at school!

We have been working hard and having lots of fun in school today. We have made lightsabers, drawn rainbows, made yoga mats, litter picked, gardened, had fun with the chickens and even built a course to race the bikes around! Here are some photos of our activities:

Wow! What an unusual week!

Thank you all for sharing your adventures.  I have enjoyed receiving your emails to see all the different activities you have been up to.  Some of you have been baking, some of you have put the tent up in the garden and some of you played tennis over the fence! Thank goodness we have had good weather.  

Don't worry, I have been sharing them with all the adults in our team too so that they can see what you have been up to. I have also enjoyed seeing your wonderful pieces of work from your home learning letter.  I am so proud of you for using your skills we have been practicing together to show your adults at home just how hard you have been working this year.

Greetings from Kings Copse all of you! 

I have been hearing amazing things from your teachers, lots of whom are working from home like you are, about how you are cheering them up with your fabulous posts and photographs that you have been emailing. I am also glad to hear from lots of your adults at home that they like our learning letters. I hope you are enjoying them too!

It is very quiet here at school because so many of you are not allowed to come in at the moment because of the rules that our Prime Minister has set, but I can see how well you are sticking to these. This is helping us all do our bit to overcome this enormous challenge. 

Please keep your pictures coming and use the blog to communicate with us as well if you like. Our very own clever Miss MacMaster has managed to get it working again! 

In the meantime, keep yourselves safe and healthy, and be kind to the grown ups at home who are helping us all by keeping you at home. 

You are all amazing young people and we miss you all! See you back in school as soon as it is safe to do so.

KS1 Nativity - A King is Born

A King is Born

Wow! Three amazing performances.  

 Thank you to all those that attended and supported the nativity.  We couldn't do it without the dedication of the staff team, commitment from parents in learning lines and preparing costumes or the children.  

I'm sure you would agree that they were fantastic. We couldn't be more proud of you KS1.

Autumn in-reach-Remembrance

Our autumn  in-reach was enjoyed by all.
Our theme this time was remembrance.
The children took part in a variety of activities, including:

Italian Afternoon

Today, Year 3 and Year 4 were lucky enough to learn about the human and physical geography of Italy. They split into four separate groups and rotated through each activity during the course of the afternoon.

Children we given ingredients to design and make their own Italian style pizzas. These pizzas were calzone pizzas, which means they were made on tortilla wraps and then folded and baked.

 

Next, children learnt that Italy is split into separate areas; some for living, some for farming and some areas for international trade. Crops are farmed and then traded as food or drink to Europe. Children were then given the opportunity to taste some of these Italian foods, such as olives, grape juice, biscotti, garlic bread and panettone.

 

Using atlases, globes and Google Maps, children then located Italy’s geographical position in the world and then in Europe. They labelled nearby seas and continents. After locating Italy, children then had to pretend they were Romans and marked their route from the UK to Italy – how many countries did they pass through on their route?

  

Finally, children used the internet to research the physical geography of Italy and discovered that it has hot, dry summers and cold wet winters. They also looked at the vegetation belts and biomes of Italy and recorded these for their topic books. As a final task for the day, they researched the names of the different rivers, mountains and volcanoes across the country.
