In Year 1 we have been learning lots about bears - both real and the cuddly type.
We read stories that had bears in them such as Goldilocks, where we helped the bears find out who broke their chair by making wanted posters. We then wrote letters from Goldilocks to say sorry and how she would try to make it better. Year 1 were very good at teaching Goldilocks how to be respectful, which is one of our learning values.
We also learnt about real bears including where they live, what they eat and what they do. The children read information pages and watched clips to help them write their own non-fiction pages about bears.
Finally we moved onto teddy bears. We learnt how we came to have toy bears and even where they got the name 'Teddy' from. We looked at how teddy bears are made and then got to design our own teddy bear!
The children were very creative and got to make their designs come to life by sewing their own teddy bears. I am sure you will agree they are amazing.
One teddy is even ready to join us at Kings Copse, with smart uniform and Kings Copse badge!
A special thank you to all the staff who helped run own teddy bear making factory and to the parents and grandparents who were able to come in help. The children loved making them and have some very special new toys ready to take home for Christmas.
Year 6 have been working hard to make their cracking contraptions.
If Santa needs some more elves for his workshop then Year 6 may just be up for the job!
