This fortnight, children have been looking at Fairtrade and the positive impact the company has on people all over the world. In Year Six, we followed the route of a Fairtade banana to see how it gets from the tree to our mouths!
We investigated the different roles that people play in the journey, and came to a conclusion about how much we felt each person deserved to be paid.
Most of us agreed that for a 30p banana, each of the five groups of people should be paid an equal 6p.
We were shocked to find out how much people actually get paid...
We then discussed how important it is to buy Fairtrade products to ensure that the growers in particular receive a fair price.
