VI Awareness morning

The children used the IPad to understand what can
be seen by people with different eye conditions.
It was Vision Awareness Morning in year one and two today. The children had some great opportunities to take part in a number of different activities including brailling, guiding a friend and playing games using blindfolds. All the activities were aimed at helping the children begin to understand what it is like for children and adults who have different visual impairments and are unable to see as well as we do.

Some of the children tried writing their names and drawing
pictures with different blindfolds and glasses on.
The children had a go at being a sighted guide for
a friend and helped them to move around the classroom.

  2. Joshua really enjoyed this activity and was keen to come home and finish his braille alphabet so he could show me how he writes his name in braille. He was so pleased with himself. What a wonderful opportunity to enable the children to experience VI and have a better appreciation of what it means for the children affected in the school.
