The birds and the eggs

As I know some of you are having trouble accessing the bird box footage because it uses flash, I thought I would upload you some pictures. The pictures clearly show the  eggs and the mother sitting on her eggs.
Unfortunately there appears to be a feather on the eggs tonight making them tricky to count.

  1. If it is a bluetit, the eggs will take about 12-14 days to hatch. Does anyone know how long they have been there for??? Lydia's mum

  2. I remember from doing this before, here and in a previous school, the blue tit lays an egg a day but doesn't start incubating them until they are all laid ( this is why they hatch at the same time).
I found this link where you can read more.

We don't know when she started laying as we had some technical problems with the camera. I would estimate about 2 weeks ago based on 10 eggs at the weekend. I think she started incubating at the weekend so they should start to hatch around about the weekend of the 18th if not slightly before (however this is quite a lot of guess work and I expect to be proven wrong).

  4. Any update on the eggs? The camera hasn't been working the last few days so we haven't been able to see anything. Thomas' Mum
