Today we were very lucky to enjoy a visit from John Kirk, a professional story teller. The children were so engaged with the story and had a fantastic time listening, watching and even becoming part of the story.
Meeting a rude mummy! |
Going to an Egyptian market. |
Pushing the door really hard! |
Showing their most scary faces! Arrgh! |
Too heavy for some... |
but others found it no problem! |
There were many laughs and surprises and it certainly gave the children lots of ideas about how they could tell stories in exciting ways!
Using some of the skills we learnt in the morning, the children then played 'book cover' Charades. There was some great acting of well known book titles and characters and the children came up with some great guesses.
Just before Lunch we were treated to Mr. Hayman reading one of his favourite stories to the class.
After lunch the children started collages linked to our book for the week, 'The Enchanted Wood'. The story centres around the amazing faraway tree and many children wanted to make their own version of the tree with lots of magical clues hidden in the branches. There are also lots of interesting characters in the story so some children made collages of these.
Don't forget Friday is book dress up day. We look forward to seeing the children (and teachers) dressed up as their favourite book characters!
I love being in this class. Daisy year 3
