Maths

This week we have been exploring numbers as well as ways to learn our times tables and division facts.

We looked at all the different ways you can represent numbers including using diennes, partitioning and drawing on a number line.

We then looked at ways to help us learn our times tables and division facts. So we know the children have a really secure understanding of the number facts, we use a wide range of vocabulary and mix up the order of the questions!

This week we used different resources to help us such as magic number triangles, word problems and matching pairs, along with drawing arrays and using bead strings. The children worked really well together, testing and helping their friends who were working on similar number facts.

The class also came up with some other suggestions such as using their fingers to count in multiples, singing songs, having the facts on display and people at home asking them quick fire questions.

We check regularly to see how the children are doing and when they are secure with the facts they are sent to Mr Hayman for some more quick fire questions and a merit!

How do you best learn your table and division facts?
Can you show someone at home some of the different ways we have explored?
Can you think of any new ideas?
