We have had another very busy book-filled day in Year 3 today!
Our morning job this week has been simply to read! The children have really enjoyed having this extra time to explore some new books or revisit old favourites. Some children also wanted to draw their favourite book covers while others wanted to make up their own exciting ones.
After some more reading from 'The Enchanted Wood' we went to the hall to act out different scenes. The children worked really well together to recreate their favourite parts of the book so far and even used musical instruments to add effects. Each group then had the chance to perform to the rest of the class and we had to guess which scene they were acting out.
After lunch, we spoke about the journey the children go on to get to the Enchanted Wood from their cottage. We collected ideas about sights, sounds and characters the children encountered on the way. The children then drew picture maps using ideas from the book and their imaginations.
These are works in progress but there are lots of lovely details already!
For our final reading session of the day we went outside for a picnic, just like Joe, Beth and Frannie in the story. The children enjoyed the lovely cakes they made yesterday whilst listening to what the children got up to when they accidently entered 'Roundabout Land'.
In between all these exciting activities we also played a game of consequences where the children worked together to make up nonsense stories (raising lots of laughs) and swapped classes to hear stories read by teachers across the school.Check back tomorrow for more exciting news updates!
